Go ahead granted for more homes at Copley Hanwell W7
Planning approval has been granted for yet more affordable new homes and residents’ amenities at Copley Hanwell W7, the exciting regeneration of the existing Copley Close estate in Hanwell, Ealing.
Broadway Living, Ealing Council’s developer arm, is now able to extend its vision and provide 202 new homes as part of Phase 6 of the scheme – 66 of them social rent, discounted market rent or shared ownership, and the remaining for private sale with affordability schemes likely to be available. This total is an increase on the 127 new homes that were approved as part of the initial application.
Phase 6, currently known as Copley Castle Bar, will comprise a collection of contemporary new homes of mixed tenure surrounding a landscaped central square, a first for the neighbourhood. This residents’ hub will form the heart of the development, centred at the halfway point of the linear regeneration project and offering a place for the community to meet, socialise and integrate.
The first phase of homes for private sale at Copley Hanwell W7, known as Alton Court, will complete in Spring 2018 with only a few homes left for sale, and work continues on the extensive refurbishment of existing homes. Building work for Phase 6 is expected to begin in early 2019.
David Colley, Regeneration Manager at Ealing Council, comments: “The change at Copley Close as regeneration continues has already been remarkable, turning an ageing estate into somewhere the residents – current and new – will be proud to live. The extended planning permission will let us go even further; we are not just creating modern, high-quality new homes, but a re-invigorated, vibrant new place.”
Representing a new approach for council-led development in the midst of government funding cuts, Broadway Living’s innovative model means that, using the profits made on private sales and rental properties, it can deliver more affordable housing for Ealing’s residents. The developer’s plans for a diverse range of homes across Ealing will meet the needs and aspirations of a range of residents and buyers with desirable, contemporary places to live.
